Israel’s Black Panthers author Asaf Elia-Shalev with Bryan Roby: Friday, Nov. 8, 12n via Zoom. Co-sponsored with JCC Ann Arbor Jewish BOOK Festival. Registration required.
Bryan Roby, a participant in the JPOC Network, will host a virtual discussion about Israel’s Black Panthers with author Asaf Elia-Shalev whose book tells the story of the young and impoverished Moroccan Israeli Jews who challenged their country’s political status quo and rebelled against the ethnic hierarchy of Israeli life and won on behalf of Mizrahim (Middle Eastern Jews) against the 70s.
